Project Overview

I developed LogeStay, a SaaS-based WordPress platform for creating short-term rental websites. The platform was built using a custom WordPress theme and custom code, with the goal of allowing property owners and rental managers to automatically create professional rental websites after subscribing. The system was designed as a reusable and scalable platform where users can manage cities, rental listings, bookings, payments, availability, reviews, FAQs, contact forms, and design settings from the WordPress admin area. The platform also includes WordPress Multisite and WP Ultimo functionality to support automatic website creation, subscription management, and SaaS operations. The project requirements included automatic site creation after subscription, short-term rental templates, subscription lifecycle management, and unpaid subscription handling.

The Challenge

The main challenge was that LogeStay was not just a normal WordPress website. It needed to work as a SaaS platform where users could subscribe, automatically create their own short-term rental website, manage their content, and operate their rental business independently.

Another major challenge was building the rental website template in a reusable way. The template needed to support destinations, listings, bookings, payments, reviews, maps, FAQs, contact forms, and design customization while still being easy for non-technical property owners to manage. The requirements also included cities, unlimited listings per city, galleries, pricing, availability, amenities, and booking-related settings.

The SaaS side added another layer of complexity. The platform needed subscription management, automatic site creation, feature limitations based on plans, suspension for unpaid subscriptions, and deletion rules after non-payment. The specification required automatic suspension and deletion handling for unpaid subscriptions.

The Solution

I built the platform using WordPress Multisite with WP Ultimo to support the SaaS structure. This made it possible to automatically create a short-term rental website for each subscribed user and manage subscription-based access from a central platform. The project scope specifically included WordPress Multisite, WP Ultimo configuration, landing page integration, rental template integration, and automatic duplication of the template upon subscription.

For the client websites, I developed a custom WordPress theme and rental website template using custom code. The template includes city pages, property listings, booking forms, reviews, maps, FAQ sections, and final booking CTA areas. I structured the backend so property owners can manage their destinations, listings, content, design settings, and booking options without needing technical skills.

I also implemented configurable booking and payment logic. Property owners can enable or disable payment methods such as credit card, PayPal, bank transfer, cash payment, and payment links. The booking process supports instant and deferred payment handling, with booking status updates and customer/admin notifications. The requirements defined booking statuses such as pending, confirmed, canceled, and expired, plus automatic emails when status changes.

For the SaaS lifecycle, I configured subscription handling, plan limitations, suspension behavior, and deletion logic. If a subscription is unpaid, the client website can be suspended, booking forms and payments disabled, and a suspension page displayed. If payment is not settled within the defined period, the site can be deleted according to the platform rules.
